นพ.กิตติ โล่สุวรรณรักษ์ ผู้อำนวยการสถาบันกัญชาทางการแพทย์ สำนักงานปลัดกระทรวงสาธารณสุข กล่าวว่า จากการรวบรวมผลงานวิจัยกัญชาทางการแพทย์ที่ดำเนินการโดยหน่วยงานภายในกระทรวงสาธารณสุข ทั้ง กรมวิชาการ โรงพยาบาลในสังกัดสำนักงานปลัดกระทรวงสาธารณาสุข องค์การเภสัชกรรม และสถาบันวิจัยระบบสาธารณสุข ตั้งแต่มีการอนุญาตให้นำกัญชามาใช้ทางการแพทย์ ในปี 2562 พบว่ามีงานวิจัยทั้งสิ้น 60 ฉบับ โดยเป็นการศึกษาด้านการนำไปใช้ประโยชน์สูงสุด 31 ฉบับ (55.00%) รองลงมาเป็นการศึกษาผลกระทบเชิงนโยบายและการออกแบบระบบ 14 ฉบับ (23.34%)
